TVs or projectors?

Hey, nerds

Anyone know of any TVs that are dumb or linux; without surveillance state stuff?

Or maybe some good projectors instead (again, no spyware pls)?

I had a projector way back around 2005. It was like 1024x768. There was some limited 720p content around there. The bulbs were expensive and after the second one blew out I ended up selling it and getting a plasma TV. (Newer projectors should be better though)

I haven't connected a TV to the Internet since 2011. (I left the country for a bit and didn't have a TV for about 10 years, although I did have one roommate who had one). Currently I use an LG OLED, zero network connectivity, fed by a Linux box that only plays pirated content. I got HDR working:

but if you don't want a smart TV at all, you can try looking at the commercial options (e.g. the TVs used in hotels and airports). I've heard you can get the same OLED panels without any network features at all, but I haven't looked into it in years.

Maintaining a platform with such questions and such quality comments is my wet dream. I just came. I did wish everyone would spend so much effort on a comment.

Well, you could just not connect your TV to the internet and use a simple Linux system as your media system.

I personally have a non-internet connected Samsung and a Google TV. I really love my Google TV but it does exactly the same as the LG. I am breached. I did research it after I saw the LG video from Gamers Nexus and it's not even a secret. It's well documented.

@djsumdog if you want to create some unique content for your site, research the Google TV. Nobody complains about it but also a spy box of that quality.

I think, the sickest part of the LG video was the malformed quality of audio recordings that is totally reversible. There is only one valid reason to do this: knowing you are doing something very, very unethical. They did even invest in hiding it. If they claim to be transparent through their terms and conditions, why is the TV technically optimized to hide it?
